Version is 1170 from Apr 2021. Nothing newer than that was released as far as I know.

Disclaimer - if you don't know what you're doing DON'T DO IT! You did not explain what problem you're trying to fix by updating the firmware running on the unit.
This release is just the firmware. It's not aimed to upgrade maps. If updated maps is what you're looking for...the only option is to pay Toyota.

 

How can I update the software with a USB drive? I have the KWI file on the drive, but my car does not recognize it.

The software update button is disabled.

 

I only need to upgrade the audio firmware, not the maps. My system does not have maps, as shown in the second picture.

The zip file you sent has 17TDT1EU-DA31_0076.kwi, but I need 1170.kwi. I have 1075 now.

 

Don't read too much in the name. Doesn't really have any logic that I can understand.
This is the 1170 release. I'm running it on my car since it was released. I had no problems whatsoever with it, but also I don't know what fixes it includes.
We're only using Pixel phones and the only troubles we had in the 4 years with the car were cables going busted.
But I do like running the latest software so I did it.

Just make sure you format USB stick as FAT32 and nothing else. Unit should "read" the stick and ask for an upgrade in a minute or so from the moment you're plugging the stick. If it doesn't ask for an upgrade it means it can't read the stick.

 

How do I connect my c-hr to wifi?

 

As far as I know the units without navigation can't connect to wifi. I wrote that somewhere on the thread about my own Orange.
Anyways there are no benefits to connect it to wifi. It doesn't do upgrades or anything interesting

Big thanks to @drabisan! Switching to FAT32 resolved my firmware update issue. I appreciate the update file and instructions. I've successfully upgraded to Firmware version from 1075 to 1170.

 

No idea about Gracenote database.

Happy that you solved the problem. Yeah, freaking good old FAT32 is the key to so many upgrades! Anything "smarter" than FAT32 is simply too smart for plenty of cars/heating/AC/etc

 

How did you get that firmware file link? I would like to get it the next time without relying on you haha

Fortunately the actual download link is not that well protected, so it can be downloaded even without having to pay. But to find it exactly for your unit...you have to pay.

 

I've tried to update it today but fails. I can't see any of the text before pressing ok and even the t&c are just a blank page. also says update size 0 MB. Maybe doesn't like my usb?

It has to be fat32. Use a stick that's less than 2G.
Or create a 2G partition that will be formated as FAT32.

I know this is trivial for an IT guy, but not friendly enough.

charliepie, link is good. I would guess you're using Chrome and latest releases are blocking zip files by default.
Solution is to copy the link on a new tab and notice on top right Chrome saying download is "unsafe". There should be an option to "keep" so upload will start and complete.

 

My Chrome security is set to no protection but you're right that something is zapping it as the screen flashes. I copied the link to Edge and bob's your uncle, I just have to find the fat32 drive I used to do my maps update ages ago! Thanks again
