Self parking feature

I used this feature for first time yesterday and it nearly backed me into a wall. I'd assumed the parking sensors would have informed the system and applied the brake? Am I missing something within this feature?
Also, can you adjust sensitivity of rear sensors?
Apologies for the questions, but I'm new to these features and can't see anything in owners manual regarding my concerns.

Hi,

The auto park feature only controls the steering, you control the speed and stopping the car, and then moving it from R to D (or vice-versa), more info on P372 of the manual. If i can remember, you can't adjust the sensitivity of the sensors, only turn off or on (P345) .

I really honestly can't understand why so many people just deliberately ignore manuals...
I believe even while using IPA it screams at you when to brake or accelerate
If you read my post, it states I HAVE read the manual and after some clarification. If it's too much trouble, don't reply. Simple.

Don't get too addicted on IPA (decent beer thought)
On 2020 models it does break all by itself!
Welcome to software world: minimum viable product 😉
Love IPA - the beer that is.
I did expect my 2018 to brake itself, but good they've improved on new models.

I only tried using It once - in a half empty rooftop carpark. It showed every sign of crashing into the next car until I aborted. The driver of the other car was scared witless by my approach and drove off to find another space. I didn't try it again after that.
Haha. Know what you mean. I now know it only controls steering; so will keep use to a minimum, plus when I do use it, keep my foot over the brake pedal.
