Lesson learnt, didn’t use auto car washes unless you want swirls on t(e paint. Dreadful things
That's not the case. It may have been the case in the past but my first hand experience contradicts it. I used to live in an apartment building and hand washing was not an option.
I washed my Orange like that for a little over 3 years. Like every other week.
It still looks spotless!

You must have better car washers over there than we have over here...

I won't say so. It's just another Maxol. We have it, you have it. I doubt they source their equipment differently. Even after the bloody "divorce" 100 years ago, it's beyond doubt Ireland kept closer tight with UK that it built with France or Germany.

I do remember what you're talking about, many years ago automatic washers had the tendency to leave marks. It may be they got better or paint got better or Toyota treatment I bought makes the difference.

It did surprised me how much it missed on my new C-HR. Around doors, front grill and front lights!
I was not really surprised for missing quite a lot of the back of the car. Read windshield is strange and that would explain.

Ah, it's actually impressive how clean that window stays! I can't say I understood why they removed the wiper, but actually it doesn't need one!

Wasnt getting at you mate, just I am a bit into detailing and avoid all car washes like the plague, maybe they are better now than a few years ago, but I won’t be finding out.

Pre-wash, snow foam, rinse, hand wash (2 buckets), rinse, dry etc
Yep a lot of effort but car looks like new every time

I'm not concerned at all! This is actually a really civilised forum!

I also bought everything I need to wash the cars. Including a power washer.
Just sometimes it's cold+windy enough. And that breaks any possible mood I would have to wash it!
I don't mind cold, but the freaking wind gets me!

actually have a warm air dryer for the merc so i don't have to dry it, avoids contact even more
One of my mates even takes his wheels off every few washes, so he can get the insides of the rims clean 😎

I have no words 😔
I have some things I'm passionate about. Cleaning is not on my list.

A picture with an area automatic washers will never touch.
Not that it did a decent job with headlights. But the rear badge is what I missed and that's the way it looks. I get it, it's somehow covered by the boot and rear lights so the washer can't actually reach it.

Fun time: my wife came to me somehow ballistic wheel rims are scratched. She wasn't pissed off on me but rather she was pissed off Toyota give us rims already scratched.
The leftover glue they use to keep that plastic foil during transport got some dust. It can be easily confused with scratches. It was looking like rims of drivers that should not drive nor park 🤪
Showed her what's happening, she calmed down... happy wife! She cleaned all 4 rims 😎

Another picture - the car actually doesn't need a rear wiper. Car gets dirty a lot, but the rear window stays clear. At least clean enough for my taste. I know, it's time for a wash and I'll do that tomorrow. In Ireland we have a bank holiday and forecast says it will be less windoy than today

I hate the dealer rear window stickers - always the first thing I remove.

Info send in the other thread. Just mentioning this if someone reads this in the future :)

Some more feedback - sometimes out of the blue wireless Android Auto disconnects. For reasons :)
A couple of touches on the screen reconnects the phone. I've never seen a case where it reconnects automatically.
Is not something that happens often, but of course when it happens is at a moment one needs navigation.
Having a Pixel 8 and a Pixel 6 one would expect it will always work. But it doesn't.

Good old cable still plays a reliable role!

On a couple of cases driver seat did not move forward after starting the engine. Although it recognize the driver. First world problem, I know! Easy fix, just adjusting the seat - it's electric and it takes a couple of seconds. Is something that happen twice, so not a big deal. If it becomes an annoyance I know how to disable that feature. It's not like any of us are really tall people that can't live without it.

Good feedback - we are mostly doing the same trips every day. And there's a noticeable difference in fuel consumption. Orange has something like 5.3-5.4 l/100 and GR one wobbles around 5. Need more time and more km to nail this part properly. But in the 7-8 weeks and a couple of tanks filled difference can be measured.

I had to drive quite a bit in the past few days. Way more than usual!
1. And this drove me crazy. Road sign assistance. I wrote this before: f..er forgets a setting not to alert when exceeding speed limit. And setting can be changed when speed is 0! Good job Toyota for not allowing this while driving! I need to make a video and share it with Toyota. with setting off there's a beep, good enough. With the setting on it beeps 10 seconds or so and flashes on dash and on heads-up display for about one minute. Especially heads-up display flashing is disturbing!
2. QI charging is just a marketing crap. I tried it in the past with a desk charging pad. I found it back then just a gimmick. Years later is still BS! I'm using a Pixel 6, stock, nothing fancy, no phone cover. Nothing but a basic phone. It charges about 4-5% per hour! Granted it uses Android Auto wireless. And phone gets hot. For 5% in one hour? Not worthy! I realised cable I have in the car is borderline broken. So a new cable and I'm going to compare charging speed. I have no clue if I connect a cable it will do AA over wire. Idea is: using the Orange one hour driving with navigation and streaming music will put 30+% in the phone battery (take it with a grain of salt...I don't know the exact percentage, I just know I'm getting a lot of juice while driving the Orange car.

Other than that...car is actually impressive! So easy to drive! Acceleration is absolutely great! Driving it on motorway is a breeze! Comfortable seats for good hours - harder seats than Orange, but nothing hurts after spending half a day driving. Fuel consumption is still heavily affected by temperature and air humidity, but that makes sense in so many ways.

Your new C-HR with Wireless CarPlay does not have USB port for regular charging?

Discussion starter · #117 ·
Yes, it has. All are USB-C. I just need some reliable black cables. I have USB-A to C, but only white C to C and my wife will made some loud comments if I put a white cable in the car 🤪

Manual says "Using Android Auto with a USB connection" and "Using Android Auto with wireless connection"
There's no obvious setting to use one or the other. I would assume USB connection takes precedence. Of course, only the USB-C port on the dash would work. The other 2 are clearly marked as charging only.
