That sound, which is a good idea, is not on the C-HR or other Toyota Hybrids in Australia at present, as not compulsory.

Probably will be made compulsory, one day soon, for new models

 

It's another new EU law so only European countries & the UK are forced to have the acoustic warning sound at the moment.

Won't be long before someone works out how to switch it off via a computer OR unplug it.

It's definitely a good idea. I've very nearly stepped out in front of silent Priuses back when they first came out. One of the reasons I won't wear headphones now while working the streets.

Hopefully Australia will catch up soon on this, and a lot of other stuff too! (I can say that as locked out ex-pat looking in )

I heard for the first time last week. It does sound at least strange! For a second I was convinced that 2021 RAV has a fault! Few minutes later a C-HR, also 2021, was making the same noise. So not a fault

 

My car is on Motability but I'd pay my dealer to switch it off

I'd be very wary about switching the warning noise off, if you hit a pedestrian when they stepped out on you because they couldn't hear you coming there may be some questions to answer....
My 69 plate C-HR didn't have that warning, my new RAV4 does but it doesn't bother me.

I'm trying to decide between silver and ash grey, and I need help! I've seen two ash grey GR Sports in the flesh - one in a showroom and one outside. In the showroom it looks white. Outside, out of direct sunlight, it looks like a grey. Does this colour really look like a white? I'm not a fan of white cars but I think that the car looks great in this colour (when it looks grey!). Any thoughts would be really welcome - need to make a call on it today to get it ordered, hopefully for September delivery. Thanks!
