Not really.
You can buy some applications from the store and they will be installed faster once you start the car and it connects to internet via home wi-fi.
Traffic updates can be downloaded this way, but it's better to have the phone serve internet to the car, via Bluetooth or WiFi, because it will get traffic updates while driving, not only when you start the car and set a destination on navigation.
But map updates can't be downloaded and installed like this on existing cars. They added this as a new feature on 2020 model: connect the car to WiFi or mobile phone and do the updates.
In summary, it's fairly useless on existing models.

What would be great if you had Alexa or google assistance in a car, that would be fab and you'd not have to take your eyes off the road to change radio station/music

The face lifted UK model claims to have Wi-fi built in. Anyone no if this is something new i.e. an inbuilt internet connection or just a re-branding of the ability to connect a phone via wi-fi to the Touch and Go system?
