Τhe risk of going deep in water is to let water go through the air intake inside the engine.
The other risk would be immersing the car in cold water when the brakes or exhaust pipes and engine is really hot causing something to crack or bend. I think the battery is insulated with metal so i don't think this will be a problem with the hybrid. I am sure there are thousands of Prius's that have been driven through floods without giving an electrical shock to the passengers. I wouldn't worry about rain.

Prius it has been arround for more than a decade now, never herd of one destroyed by some rain... :)
There is a rumour that even the king of off-road, the hilux might be offered in hybrid so, if a hybrid system will be good enough for a small truck designed for heavy off-road it should be fine for a small crossover who will rarely be used outside road like the C-hr.
