Warranty with servicing

Post by adn1962 » Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:57 pm

So, Toyota and Lexus have now changed their warranty stance.

All new cars only come with 3 year, 100k warranty. To extend it after the 3 years, you have to have car serviced at approved Toyota dealer to obtain a free 12 month warranty. Every service thereafter , up to 10 years, gets you a 12 month warranty.

Cynical me thinks this is a ploy to get owners back having their cars serviced at franchised dealers. I also think servicing prices will increase to pay for this warranty.

No 5-year standard warranty on Toyota cars now!

It does, but only after initial warranty has elapsed.

Used prices will hold up much better though with 10 years full warranty. Good move by toyota as they clearly believe they will ahve very few claims on their cars. If you are looking for a used car would you buy a German car with 3 years then expensive garage costs or a Toyota with 10 years warranty. That is how Toyota will see it.

First and foremost: where did you read that?
Second: where previously you've seen 5 years warranty?
At least in Ireland 3 years warranty was the rule since at least 2016. 5 years warranty was only for hybrid system, pending hybrid system check every year by a Toyota approved dealer. Considering all hybrid cars are coming with 3 years free anual check, it would be basic logic to go for a Toyota dealer.

This has been all over the motoring press the last few days ( Autocar etc). Toyota has given full 5 year warranty in the UK for several years now on all vehicles.

As previously mentioned, UK has been 5 years for several years. Hybrid warranty is 8 years.
