Suspension

Post by nick123jedi » Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:53 am

Hi everyone

Does anyone have any experience of the sports suspension compared to the normal suspension? Just wanted to get opinion of how much stiffer the suspension is and whether it makes the ride too bumpy?

Thanks
Nick

Suspensions are different between 2018 to 2020 model.
The newest one is stiffer, ride is different, but not bumpy by all means.
It made a huge difference to my daughter's car sickness and that was a welcomed benefit!
I didn't look for after market sport suspension, so I can't really answer to your question.

What 2 models are you comparing? Apart from the suspension improving from earlier models to the 2020 model (or maybe only 2.0l 2020 model?) I am not aware of a sports suspension.
All the best

I'm looking at the new 2.0 Hybrid GR Sport. Just wondered how the ride was on this model with its stiffer suspension than the standard model.

Toyota claims that the GR Sport's suspension is 15% stiffer front and 10% stiffer rear.
In combination with the 225/45/19 tyres, which are also different brand from the soft Michelin Primacy 3, I assume that the ride may be much harsher than with the standard suspension.
I'd like to test drive a GR Sport to compare.

True, I wasn't accurate: I was comparing suspension my former 1.8 2018 C-HR with my current 2l 2020 Orange one.

Just picked up a 2021 1.8 GR Sport which was an upgrade from my previous 2018 Excel Model. I can tell you that the ride is a lot smoother and not harsh at all. Bumps and roads are hardly noticed on our roads now. When combined with the larger 19 inch wheels the rolling effect seems to have improved a lot as well.
