Today I asked my dealer how much it would cost to hardwire a dashcam. At first he said they don't do it, but when I mentioned other countries are, he went to ask some service guys. After a few hours I've got an email - it's €150

I asked my dealer about hard wiring a dash cam. He asked Why? Can't you just plug it in? That's what the sales manager has done. Then said they hadn't been asked to hard wire. I asked for a quote and told him Halfords are quoting £30. He said they charge £60 for half an hour and Halfords would be a better bet because they are obviously doing more than them so would be more experienced !!! I queried warranty invalidation and he said no it wouldn't impact on the warranty.

Talking of dashcams. Where are you all placing yours? I've stuck mine on the passenger side sort of half behind the rear view mirror, but i think it may be intruding too far into the windscreen wiper arc ( which the manual says it shouldn't). Any pics would be appreciated

Hi Simonw I did look through these posts before I asked, I couldn't get any real sense of where they were being placed apart from on the dashboard LHS and the windscreen having a big slope. Hence the question. Thanks

I keep forgetting to take some pics. Maybe tomorrow
And yes, you're right - not much pictures of dashcams from owners here

Here you go
First one is from the driver point of view
Second - from outside
Third - just to show how it's fitted

Sorry for quality :)

Went to Halfords yesterday about fitting hardwire kit for my nextbase. They said they don't fit to hybrids. Looked at vids of fuse box under passenger side panel and it looks like there's no room for a piggy back connector. Looks like fuse box cover wouldn't fit back on. Gonna be a pain to hardwire by the looks as don't want to tap into wires. Saying that prob best wire to look for is interior light as this has a constant live.

My fusecover is also in the glovebox because of a piggybag for my tailgate.. i dont worry, my friend (chief toyota garage) dont worry and my own dealer dont worry about the piggybag and the loose cover.
