No, it’s on my iPad, it’s called ‘Road Trip HD’, I’ve been using it for years it was free when I got it but I think it’s a fiver now. Everything I spend I enter with a mileage and it gives me a lot of statistics. I find it interesting and it’s obviously real information as opposed to what the car says. When I fuel up always reset the mpg in the car so I compare the two. On average I would say the car overstates the mpg by about 10%

For Android users I can recommend the "FillUp" app to keep track of fuel usage.

I have similar figures to Chris18 in regards of the mpg dropped now when we have the cold weather in morning around 5 degrees. Normally going to work I have to drive uphill so in warm weather it returned around 53mpg but now since the cold mornings it returned 43mpg. Returning home from work I drive downhill, it is consistent around 78mpg due to the outside temperature is around 15 degrees outside.

Hi Kelvin, just downloaded the app Fillup, did you enter the fuel in litres or converted them before entering them as gallons? As looking at your log you are getting imperial along with metric data.

Sorry for sounding a bit dense but just wondering, read the help sheet on the app so when I first refuel do I just enter the mileage along with checking the box 'Tank Full' then when refuelling again enter all details mileage, price, gallons into the app? Another point is that do you have to convert litres to gallons or does the app do this itself? Maybe it might be easier to enter all in metric then convert to imperial but then again, the mileage would be out if still in mph?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

Everytime I buy petrol I enter mileage, cost in pounds, and amount in litres. In the settings (opening page - 3 dots at the top r/h) you can specify units in UK mpg and currency in pounds. It then calculates everything automatically...

Thanks kelvin, that's a great help.

Filled the car up tonight. Managed 519miles on 35,3 litres. Was surprised when the pump cut out so early as the range was down to 10miles. Managed to squeeze another litre or so into the tank and came to the conclusion that it was full.

Don't know about you but since refuelling on Friday, and coming away from the petrol station, noticed that the engine was running and kept running for a good 3-4 minutes even though the temperature gauge was nearly at normal and I had 3 bars of hybrid power, then it dawned on me, the weather was colder. Even local trips I am running at about 8 miles per gallon less than in the warmer weather.

Have any of you also noticed a difference yet?

Nigel.

Yes. Works harder to heat the engine and to heat the cabin.
All the best
