Isn't the battery under warranty for 3 years?

5 year warranty on Toyota. Not sure if battery is covered but should be.

The dealer said the diagnostics said it had not been serviced, therefore charged. Therefore, it wouldn’t be under warranty. I mentioned that some people have had their replaced free of charge by the AA and the Toyota had authorised this.
He said he knew nothing about it.
I had the service done and a free slow puncture repair I didn’t replace the battery.
I can’t see the point if this is what Will happened again. I asked him if it’s Because the battery is three-year-old or because of the current situation with driving and he shrugged.
We briefly discussed a trickle charger.
I don’t see why there isn’t a step down transformer with voltage regulator off the main battery that is ignition switched.
Will contact Toyota direct. I have owned the car less than a year.
Have seen these with a cigarette lighter.

3 year old battery going dead is not fit for purpose! Take it to customer services & also tell them about your dealer experience.

An interesting note on a polish site: "The 12 V battery is discharged due to the MEU module not entering sleep mode after briefly turning the ignition on and off." Translated with Google. If somebody knows polish here's the site: http://forum.toyotaklub.org.pl/index.ph ... 8.270.html
It does look like it applies to MM17. And MEU module = Multimedia extension module (navigation module).
And all 2020 models should have MM17. Personally mine doesn't have Navigation, so I can't tell what's my exact model.
Maybe this applies to somebody here.

I have navigation. 2017

Version 1540 of the MEU software is the latest and applies to all versions of the Toyota MM17
List of resolved problems with the MEU module: Multimedia extension module (navigation module):
MEU software version 1540:
The cursor on the map skips every 2-3 seconds instead of moving smoothly.
The map screen turns black when driving through a specific place.
Turn-by-Turn navigation information changes rapidly as you round a roundabout.
The street name is not displayed without setting the destination.
Map rendering defect (displacement) in Eastern Russia and Kazakhstan.

MEU software version 1530:
Illogical traffic information (4.5 million km on the right-hand bar)
The map on the map screen changes to a 2D view with north at the top from another view set by the user after switching the ignition on and off. (This does not solve the problem of only having a 2D view north at the top of the home screen.)
No fixed speed settings for Austria.
The map rendering algorithm causes the map to be displayed incorrectly.
TMC not available in RDS.
Emergency windows are displayed despite the absence of an emergency incident on the road.
The 12 V battery is discharged due to the MEU module not entering sleep mode after briefly turning the ignition on and off.

Version 1140 of MEU software is the latest and applies to all versions of the Toyota MM19
List of resolved problems with the MEU module: Multimedia extension module (navigation module):
MEU software version 1140:

The map screen turns black when driving through a specific place.
Turn-by-Turn navigation information changes rapidly as you round a roundabout.
The street name is not displayed without setting the destination.
Map rendering defect (displacement) in Eastern Russia and Kazakhstan.

MEU software version 1120
No fixed speed settings for Austria.
The map rendering algorithm causes the map to be displayed incorrectly.
TMC not available in RDS.
Emergency windows are displayed despite the absence of an emergency incident on the road.
The 12 V battery is discharged due to the MEU module not entering sleep mode after briefly turning the ignition on and off.
The wrong color is the speed limit on the home screen and map
The direction icon is grayed out and should be highlighted or the font should be white
Days of the week in Polish are not capitalized
The refresh button on the Norwegian weather screen is not capitalized
Incompatibility of the detailed information icon on the phone book screens? many addresses at one contact
After pressing the backspace button, the junction view disappears for a moment and reappears
The undo button is visible when the POI Detailed Information Mode is on
The device ID has been updated to MM19

We briefly discussed a trickle charger.

Have seen these with a cigarette lighter.
Such a charger wont work.. the 12v cigarette output is cut off battery when the car is in OFF position.
Putting 12v on the cigarette output can mess up the system and power up some electrical parts because you put in 12v at wrong point.

When using a trickle charger you have to connect it directly to the 12v battery. Most chargers have a wiring loom for the 12v battery with fast-fix connector.

Nevertheless.. the C-HR have a very small 12v battery that can be drained very fast if equipped with alarm system, have open doors for few hours or not driving for over a week. Prius owners who dont use their cars in this Corona crisis have same issues.

So.. just drive your C-HR! :D ..or install a (solar) trickle charger to prevent a flat battery.
