Ive just checked my battery and its low on fluid in one end cell and some cells have debris floating around. Its always 12.3v max which seems low to me. Has anyone used AGM ones on these hybrids before and have any idea what charge amps it needs to accept.

I seem to remember its 100+ amps from the dc dc converter. Ive found this one from exide that looks ok. I know its guaranteed but id rather not breath in any more hydrogen/sulphur gas from a boiling wet battery and get a sealed gel one.

Google indicates an AGM should be fine, but I would still contact Toyota and check if they can supply one

Oh yeah good point about gaurantee. When my ecu/dash fused itself on they started asking me how id powered my dashcam etc. Digging for reasons to charge me.

Maybe il just add fluid and hope it doesnt die. The windows are so slow before the ignition kicks in and ive had the car not move more than 5mph before. All my old cars stayed at 12.5 to 12.8v but maybe this system is ok to be lower as its not needed for a starter motor.

My fuel economy keeps getting worse too so just digging in the dark for reasons for that really.

Varta type C30 (or UK code 012) is a battery of 54Ah.
Model 554 400 053, size 175x207x109mm. CCA 530A.
Fits C-HR Hybrid according to the Varta website.

Never had a Varta that dropped out within 6 years.
Some are over 10 years in my current cars and still going.
Every battery for a car i ever buy will be a Varta. You can take that to te bank! :D ;)

Original Toyota battery.. have had twice that after 2 years they where suddenly dead.
Besides that, original Toyota battery is more expensive as a Varta.

I ask my dealer about the bigger battery:

They can do it, but it Need new battery holder (106€) because the battery is needed to place upper than old One.
Then they but it Optima Yellow Top YT S 4,2 (55ah) (298€)

My friend have that optima battery (pics 1-4)

I think 400€ is too Much for 10ah more than original.
Thats why i ask my local garage can they but bigger than that and they install me Yuasa YBX7005 (64ah) battery.
They have to TaKe the battery cover out because it doesn't Fit witout it and put the new battery with universal battery holder. (Check picture 5)

I need the bigger battery because i install webasto in my car tomorrow.

In C-HR you don't have to code new battery in car when you change it.

I write This because i don't find this info when i needed it. If someone Else need it...

Just for your info. I have also a Webasto in my C-HR, and I'm using the standard mounted battery.
I'm located in Denmark, and we don't have the same cold weather as you have in Finland.
When I'm using mine Webasto I only let it run for half an hour.

Regards /Kim

In UK Webasto is known for sunroofs :) I assume you are not referring to that but maybe some additional heating system?

Just had the toyota dash cam fitted. Told them by battery was flat after leaving for 3 or 4 days. They have ordered me another battery. Said will call me when they get it to book in for fitting. They said they have issues with the gt86 batteries and they replace them with an upgraded version. Maybe be the same for chrs

I have a Defa heating system in C-HR and it works with electricity.

It contains:
- Defa indoor heater 2100W (https://m.motonet.fi/en/tuote/455021/Defa-Termini-2100- indoor saddle lantern 013502100W--slim-430061)
- Defa engine heater (https://www.defa.com/en/autolampo/motorilammittimet/etsi-moottorilammitin-autoosi/)
- Defa maintenance charger (https://www.defa.com/Product/accumulator kit 1-x12/). I'm not quite sure if it's just that charger.
- Of course, all the necessary wires

Installed 590 €

Sorry for the Finnish links
ps. Seems that links do not work from England to Finland.

Try this: https://www.defa.com/electrical-preheating/interior-heaters/

That's pretty cool, thanks guys :)

Two cars ago I had a Jaguar XE and you could remote start that from an app to pre-warm the engine and interior but not much use if you are parked up in a garage ;)

Hey - I'm coming over your way in a couple of weeks and spending a couple of nights in Ivalo :) Not driving though apart from a snowmoblie and huskies and an ice kart if we can arrange that too :)
