So, if you have an Icon, you need the Parking Pack if you want parking sensors .. right?

Actually, I dont have an Icon, I have an Active (a Hybrid). This is the Spanish equivalent of the Icon. With pretty much the same spec. What I actually wanted was the Spanish equivalent of the Excel (then I'd get parking sensors as standard), but they dont do it in Red, and I really wanted the red.
So, I chose the Active/Icon (in red), and decided to add the Parking Pack .. not quite that easy in Spain, there is no such thing as that Pack, but you can add front and rear parking sensors separately, cost in total about €600 (so much the same as the UK £500).
Now, according to the UK Toyota website, the Parking Pack consist of front and rear parking sensors and a switch to deactivate the rear sensors (I have no idea why one would want to deactivate just the rear sensors, btw).
The car was delivered to the garage, who then had to install the sensors. I dont know whether this is the standard approach, or whether sometimes the factory fits them.
According to the owners manual (I have ontained an English one) ..
a) the parking sensor function can be disabled in the Settings section of the main display .. not that I can find on my car!
b) there should be an icon on the main display to indicate the system is active .. again, not that I can see!
However, what works and what doesnt ..
when in Reverse, the rear parking sensors seem to detect objects, and the system beeps.
when going forward, nothing from the front sensors at all.
I asked the dealer... and in his very best English, he told me to look for a switch to the left of the steering wheel (keep in mind this is a lhdrive car). He said this would activate/deactivate the front sensors (note this is the opposite of what Toyota says you get!). I found a switch (with a P and some sound waves printed on it). It's a click-on click-off switch, which also has an indicator lamp. Does it do anything .. not that I can tell! As for the indicator lamp, it seems it is possible to get it to light (when the switch is out, rather than in), but once you get driving, it goes out for good.
So, clearly, I need to make a trip to the dealer, since I think something must be wrong.
Finally, what about SIPA .. is that included with the Parking Pack?? Probably not .. but .. I have a friend with an Excel .. he has the same switch .. he says it operates his SIPA function. Oh joy!! This is a can of worms!!
Can anyone throw any light on any of this??

I've got the Excel and the P switch is so it can park itself. I've tried it once, weird but efficient

I've an icon and was told by the dealer I could add front and rear parking sensors at any time.

On all cars I've had both fitted to you could only ever deactivate the fronts.

Deactivate switch for rear sensors is used when you have tow hook for bike carrier or car trailer.

The fitting instructions talk about a rear cancellation switch.
PW501 - 00560 (x1) (Optional) Rear cancellation switch
So that seems alright but the front sensors don,t work on the moment.

Thank you Holyhead for your comments.
Do you know where I might download the installation instructions you refer to?
As I mentioned in my original posting, I don't see the enable/disable options in my Settings (as described p352) ! Again, this leads me to think that the installer has failed to configure something!
As an aside, I asked an English Toyota dealer about the availability of S-IPA. His reply asked me what S-IPA was!
