I have looked high and low on the internet for the answer to this and nothing has worked. In recent weeks, Carplay has systematically started freezing when on a call, to the extent that the screen is dead and I cannot switch between apps (meaning, for example, that I cannot have Google Maps on at the same time).
I have tried everything - several different cables, disabling VPNs, updated iphone software. The only thing I haven't been able to do is find the latest software for the head unit. Some forums suggest there is a lesser know 2022 update, but I have not been able to find it.
Bottom line is I am totally and absolutely stumped and have tried everything before coming here. I suspect it is linked to IOS 18 but this is unconfirmed.
Is anyone having the same issue? Does anyone have even the slightest idea how to remedy it? I know Carplay is a bit of a luxury but for me it's a key component of a well functioinng car!
