Started the car this evening & a message popped up about a software update being available.

Any,one else of the 22MY C-HR crowd had this message / downloaded the new update?

I've not downloaded yet as I'm knackered after work.

It appears at the top of the screen, I drove away & it disappeared.

I'll see if it pops up again later.

The Smart Connect system apparently automatically checks once per week for any software updates & will inform you when there is one available to download.

You can also manually check for software updates via the touchscreen.

Updated mine earlier today & this is what its for.

donyou have to be parked to update or will it do it whilst driving around?

Not sure as I did it while parked - ignition on, it stayed in ready EV mode the whole time.
The radio & usb playback still worked while it installed.

You can drive or not, it doesn't matter as long as you don't turn ignition off.

Just updated mine, 20 mins and all sorted
