9069 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ans
3 times now I have got into the car and sat nav screens working then a few minutes later displays a blank screen. only way to get it working again is to turn car off then back on.

All other screens work fine.
Anybody else experienced this.

I had this happen on my Prius a couple of years ago.

One reason it can happen is if you are in a satellite "black-spot". If it happens in the same place all the time then this may well be the reason.

The other possibility is that there is a fault with the unit - as was the case with my Prius. After much checking in my case Toyota replaced the whole unit at several thousand pounds (apparently).

If it is not caused by the first option then I would speak with your dealership.
When does the sat nav go black?
I found out (and it is a bug) that if a navigation prompt is spoken and you turn off the car, the next time you turn it on the map won't load and the screen stays black. You have to press "stop" on the navigation, turn the car off and on to fix it.

You can also try to upgrade to version 6.8.1
It's not routing when it's done it just displaying map whilst driving.
How do you do the update?

all the info and update is available on the estore on toyotas web site, believe it is PR6.8.2H now, wellthats the one it gave me as it is model dependent.
you need a 8gb usb memory stick
Upgraded now ,thanks everyone for the info.
That website is well slow.
Well the update didn't sort it, did it again tonight :(
I've seen this a couple of times on latest update. Appears with mine to be phone connection related. Only happened when my phone I use for internet from the Touch system was struggling for signal
thanks Garry, I shall monitor that. Also found sometimes holding the speech button in on steering wheel didn't activate Siri likes its supposed to so could be a phone issue causing it.
