I picked up my car yesterday and have spent almost a day getting everything set up, reading about the controls, setting up the vehicle on the my Toyota account, verifying it and setting the multimedia system to my toyota from the car by blue tooth tethering. I logged in to my PC to get the Map Update 6.9.0H and it wants me to pay £109.00 for it but why ?

It then appears to want a First Use Date (FUD) and because I've only done 43 miles I haven't got one. I will have to wait because I don't plan on driving 80 more miles until next weekend. You have to do 120 miles apparently but it would have been useful if that message came up on the multimedia display before registering. A bit concerned the car is reporting back its mileage to toyota, what else is it sending back, a complete list of all my journeys ! Does this mean I am totally stuffed as I have already matched the Mutimedia ID to the mytoyota account ?

The brochure in the UK states you get 3 years free updates but my handover guy didnt even know that until I pointed it out in the brochure.

No ive still not sorted this as I have still only have 91 miles on the clock. I dont use the car during the week as I walk to work. I will be doing a 70 mile trip on Friday so will then be over the 120 miles needed to set the FUD to My Toyota.

Now all sorted and map updated to the latest version. I also deleted all the countries except the UK as it will never be going abroad. Seems to be smoother and quicker now without all those foreign countries taking up space :D

Hi, when you downloaded it what was the file name? Mone came down as 6.9.0WH.zip (note the"W"), and then it said it was incompatible with my device.

You need to unzip and extract the 6 files to the root of the USB drive. If you just drag or copy the zipped file to the USB stick it wont work. You also need to type in the activation code so make a note of it and make sure you are clear whether it includes 0 or O in it as sometimes its far from obvious looking at it.

Yes I know that. it recognised the update as 6.9.0WH (on the car) and then siad it was invompatible. I think I may have a corruption somewhwere along the way

Hmm im not sure. Thankfully mine just worked. I felt a bit of a pratt sat in the car for almost 45 minutes upto 9.15 at night with the engine running and the headlights on. Apparently you have to do this for it to work. The neighbours wondered what was going on. I hadnt realised that I cant turn the headlights off. Its either Auto so they come on when its dark or On. There is no off switch.
