We found this on our drive some weeks after getting the car. It's plastic and looks like some sort of quick fit fastener used during assembly so favoured by car manufacturers these days. It doesn't appear to have been exposed to the weather as the finish is unblemished suggesting that it has come loose from inside the car. Problem is, from where? I did look underneath the car but there was nothing obviously missing or loose due to this part falling away.

Any ideas out there in CH-R land?
(usual apologies for poor quality of pic!)

The quality of the picture is fine.
There is a fastener like that in the boot but longer for holding the polystyrene floor packing down. I removed it to fit a new space saver floor kit.
They will use them elsewhere no doubt, perhaps in transit when shipped over. Could be for holding the carpet down ??

As the carpet rucks forward more and more while driving I think its pulled these out from under my seat. So sit in car and pull your heels back till it meets a beam. This is where mine came from. But it was snapped.

Theres allot of double sided sticky holding my car together too

Thanks to those who entered the 'spot-the-part' no-prize competition.

We think we may have solved the riddle!

We specified a space-saver wheel which had to be ordered after delivery of the car. When it arrived, we got the dealer to fit the wheel in the boot which meant they had to remove the original pre-formed liner which we put on the back seat for ease of transportation home. This liner has a hole in the centre which, we presume, has some sort of locating fixing into the raised boss used to secure the wheel, when fitted. We suspect that this fixing is the black stud shown in my photos, and guessing that it stayed in the hole but later fell out, undiscovered, on the back seat to be disturbed when a bag or similar was removed from the seat.
It all makes perfect sense now. Sort of.

In any case, we are reasonably happy with this explanation but if anyone not having the space-saver option would care to check their car and report back it would be most welcome.
