Hi all,

I am in a situation whereby I lost both my car keys. I contacted my garage, but the only thing Toyota can do is to replace the smart key box (transponder ECU). Total cost 2,600 €...

With previous Toyota models it was possible to get the FOB code for the keys through the BOD port with software like Tango. This doesn't work for the CHR. Only remaining option is to read the FOB code directly from the print plate inside the smart box (build in behind the glove compartment). Anybody here any experience with this or an idea if it is even possible or Not?

Thanks,
Bart

When I got my keys, one of them had metal plate attached with the code on it. I have this code saved, so I wouldn't be in such situation :/
I think the code is only for the small mechanic key in your keyfob.

I was told they can reprogram other keyfob by that code :/ But not everything is true what dealer says
If so I suppose that the code also must been in some computer from Toyota (linked to serialnumber car etc.)
Then it must been possible without the 2 keyfobs and code to make new fobs.
Maybe its for security reasons that Bartb can only buy a complete system (very pricy).
So touchwood but I hope that it not happend to me.
