Hey so my C-HR got delivered the other day. Can't drive it yet other than around the driveway as it needs to be registered first. But I've got a question regarding the parking sensors and the IPA. Do they need some sort of activation or calibration? I have enabled the feature from the display, the indicator appeared but they don't seem to be working for some reason. They're not detecting any obstacles around. No beeping, no on-screen-display of the car's surroundings. Besides, when I try to enable the IPA system from the switch next to the steering wheel it says IPA unavailable. What might be causing this?

The dealer delivered the car on a transport trailer so maybe they had to disable some of the sensors? I thought there's no physical switch for them though.

Hmm, if I recall, going into the menu from the Right steering wheel controls allows you to control the sensitivity of the various sensors. It also, if you scroll down gives more options to choose.

Does the display on the left, the one with the charge/power dials have all the symbols lit up?

Parking, reverse sensor etc?

If not, I'm out of ideas :(

Mine just worked, I didn't turn anything on, hope somebody else has an idea.

No sensitivity options for the parking sensors in the menu, you can just turn them on or off.

Yeah, all the symbols are there actually. So the feature is activated but physically they're not getting any feedback I guess? Checked the manual too and everything seems to be set up okay.

Yeah I've went through it like 5 times. Everything is activated but no obstacles are detected, there's no graphic that appears showing the car's surroundings and definitely no buzzer sounds. Can't select IPA either, it says it's unavailable when I press the button.

Car has 6km on the odo so maybe it needs to be driven to calibrate? I don't know really.

Toyota parking assist-sensor

The distance from your vehicle to nearby obstacles when parallel
parking or maneuvering into a garage is measured by the
sensors and communicated via the multi-information display
and a buzzer. Always check the surrounding area when using
this system.

So this means Sipa only works if the parking assist-sensor system is enabled.

does the car show the sensors when you push the button at start up as in my first post, as it should do a system check

Nope, it doesn't. When I press the button it just says that IPA is unavailable. And I think it happens mainly cause the sensors aren't working somehow, despite the fact that there's the symbol for them on the display.

sounds like a trip to the dealer is required to activate something in techstream that has been turned off

Finally got the car registered and after driving it for a few Km's everything's working as intended. Was scared it would need a dealer visit but I guess they just needed to calibrate themselves. IPA working too now.
