Parking assist goes off

Hello guys, new owner here, glad to be part of this community :) First of all, i absolutely love this car :D
Lets go to the issue, as the topic title says, i have a problem with parking assist sensor. I have it always enabled, but when i switch off the engine, the next day on switch on the engine, the parking assist sensor is off on its own !!
I noticed that this happens only when car is parked for more than 8 hours, so if i park somewhere for 1-2 hours when i go back to car parking assist will be on, but when i start car at mornings parking assist is off. Is that normal ?? Any ideas ? Anyone with similar issue? :?

I think that I have read in the manual that you should only turn it on when you need to use it - if that is the case then I suspect that the behaviour is quite normal
Do you mean the P light (first icon). Because this light is alway,s on after start in my car
(since 19-1-2017)

Thanks for your reply guys.

@david63 i didnt find something like that in the manual on parking assist section

@holyhead yes is the first icon. I think it should remain always on (if you never switch it off) no matter how long you park the car with engine off. Can you confirm this please?

That is correct even in the testdrive car it was alway,s on. Made 2 testdrives one in a hybrid and one in 1,2T CVT.

And your system is enabled (Settings display)

Thanks mate, so i have to go to he dealer and check it
I can't speak for the C-HR as I haven't got mine yet but I have parking assist on my Range Rover Evoque and you only turn it on when you are looking for a parking space at very low speed, when it senses a big enough space to park it asks you to stop and select the right gear then you take your foot off the brake and steeering wheel and it parks the car for you. I would think the C-HR would be the same. Why would you need park assist on when driving along normally?

Is it not difficult having one foot on the brake and one on the steering wheel?

(sorry could not resist that one!)
There are two systems you have the

1.Toyota parking assist-sensor system

2.S-IPA (Simple Intelligent Parking Assist
System)

1. Are the sensors when you park (forward, afterward) and come to close to a car, wall etc
then you got a warning on the multi-information display. If you want to use this system then it
alway,s is enable (seems locical to me).

2. Then there is IPA wich help you to park automatickly.

We are talking about number 1

Yes I see which you mean now, I have the same. I thought we were talking about no:2, yes seems logical to have no:1 on all the time.
As holyhead said, we were talking about the parking assist sensors, they should remain always on so in case you approach a car too close or there is an object on sides when you make a close slowly turn at corner (very helpful) to notify you.
I will go these days to dealer, and hopefully will not say to me this is normal if engine is off for some hours.
Is weird though that it does it everyday only at mornings, when the car engine was off for about 12 hours.
This looks like the same fault that others and myself are getting which is not Parking sensors, but Collision warning. It goes off after the car has been left over night or when the weather is wet or damp...

My CHR is at the dealers of this and other faults this friday

Hello mate, thanks but how is this related with parking assist sensor? My pre-collision is always on, i checked it. Also weather here is sunny.
Please keep us informed about the dealers summary.
Just a quick update. Last night i decided before i switch off the engine, to turn off the parking assist sensor and then back on, and after i switch off the engine, 8pm. Today morning, 8am, when i switch on the engine, parking assist sensor was on !! Really weird :?

Unfortunately not. It did it also at afternoon while leaving from work, maybe because wasnt off at morning :? I went to dealer, report the problem, he said is not normal, will make some calls, and let me know in few days.
I hope that the problem is quickly solved. It is hopefull that your dealer responded.
Touchwood but it still works alright om my CHR.

Thanks buddy ;) today morning was on, so maybe later on day will be off. Anyway, will keep u guys informed with the news from dealer.
UPDATE: Last week, dealer checked the problem on the computer via OBD port , he found nothing but sent the log to TOYOTA. They replied that all seems normal. Meanwhile, after the visit, the problem showed 2 more times but after that is always on  Maybe is the reflash/calibration he did ? But if was that, then parking assist should stay on immediately after reflash he said. I went once more, he sent again the log to TOYOTA, waiting for reply.
Dealer said if it continues doing it, he should replace the parking assist ECU, or the millimeter as in this there storing the parking assist last position. To be honest, even if will keep doing this, i'm not sure if is worth it or if is safe, to change something on my car so early
