MPG - for those of you who have the Hybrid

I'm very interested to hear what MPG you are achieving with your new Hybrid?

I believe its supposed to be very similar to the Prius, which online is showing an average of 59MPG

I need to change my Company car soon, currently have a Nissan Juke 1.5 diesel which gets me anything from 50-63 MPG (I don't like boring looking cars)
I'm also considering a BMW i3 (range extended version), Outlander PHEV and Jeep Renegade (Diesel)

33,000 miles every mile since new recorded, one 40 mpg trip, in France at 140 kph for several hundred kilometers into a head wind
What app is that is it hybrid assistant??
No, it's on my iPad, it's called 'Road Trip HD', I've been using it for years it was free when I got it but I think it's a fiver now. Everything I spend I enter with a mileage and it gives me a lot of statistics. I find it interesting and it's obviously real information as opposed to what the car says. When I fuel up always reset the mpg in the car so I compare the two. On average I would say the car overstates the mpg by about 10%

For Android users I can recommend the "FillUp" app to keep track of fuel usage.

I have similar figures to Chris18 in regards of the mpg dropped now when we have the cold weather in morning around 5 degrees. Normally going to work I have to drive uphill so in warm weather it returned around 53mpg but now since the cold mornings it returned 43mpg. Returning home from work I drive downhill, it is consistent around 78mpg due to the outside temperature is around 15 degrees outside.
Hi Kelvin, just downloaded the app Fillup, did you enter the fuel in litres or converted them before entering them as gallons? As looking at your log you are getting imperial along with metric data.

Sorry for sounding a bit dense but just wondering, read the help sheet on the app so when I first refuel do I just enter the mileage along with checking the box 'Tank Full' then when refuelling again enter all details mileage, price, gallons into the app? Another point is that do you have to convert litres to gallons or does the app do this itself? Maybe it might be easier to enter all in metric then convert to imperial but then again, the mileage would be out if still in mph?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Nigel.
Hi Nigel,

Everytime I buy petrol I enter mileage, cost in pounds, and amount in litres. In the settings (opening page - 3 dots at the top r/h) you can specify units in UK mpg and currency in pounds. It then calculates everything automatically...

Thanks kelvin, that's a great help.

Filled the car up tonight. Managed 519miles on 35,3 litres. Was surprised when the pump cut out so early as the range was down to 10miles. Managed to squeeze another litre or so into the tank and came to the conclusion that it was full.
Don't know about you but since refuelling on Friday, and coming away from the petrol station, noticed that the engine was running and kept running for a good 3-4 minutes even though the temperature gauge was nearly at normal and I had 3 bars of hybrid power, then it dawned on me, the weather was colder. Even local trips I am running at about 8 miles per gallon less than in the warmer weather.

Have any of you also noticed a difference yet?

Nigel.
Yes. Works harder to heat the engine and to heat the cabin.

I have also noticed a big change this last few weeks my adv has dropped from 72.4 to 64.5..and noticed much more engine running..had to switch back to Eco mode for the Winter from my usual Norm mode.
56 is all I get.... All systems in use, radio and light(eco modus by default) and to be fair quite a bit of motorway where the hybrid part doesn't really add anything. In city that goes up to 65 mpg...
I managed to get my car up to 64.8MPG and then it dropped to 60. I got so fed up of driving like an old man and lorries...etc passing me. I set it to sport and just drove normally. It stays just over 60MPG and I try have a different screen showing on the dash board so I don't

I use 98 petrol still and wont go back to 95.

I do drive in Cyprus though and not many of the roads are straight. Mainly in Nicosia.
My car does around 38.8 mpg now this has dropped from 50.5mpg. We have a lot of hills where we are so I was aware I won't get get the greatest of economy. Since November it's between the mid to late 30's.
Was getting mid 50-60s out of my hybrid. But engine triangle light came on, followed by red engine light. Car stopped and wouldn't restart. While phoning Vantage Toyota engine eventually restarted. Vantage Toyota dealership said as I had cleared the fault they would look at it during service. On booking it in last week explained the problem that since the fault lights I'm only now getting 39mpg!!! On collecting CHR all that was said is...you get less miles in the cold! But still waiting for Vantage Toyota to explain why I was getting more than 60 mpg same time last year before warning lights came on and car stopped! Still waiting for their mechanic to call me back! Anyone else had similar issues?

Having recently suffered the same problem, have you had any issues with warning lights coming on? I'm still "working" on the mpg drop and have been told by another Toyota dealership that it is very unusual and I should take it into them so they can put it on the computer...39mpg is NOT acceptable for me!
58.1 58000 MILES 3 YEARS
True Urban Cycle Mainly mixed motorway M25/M1, central London and its Suburbs
Longer runs on Motorways ie St Albans to Southampton 50MPG , Motorway and Dual Carriageway St Albans to Cheltenham 52mpg ( why cant my kids be at the same uni)
Cant fault it
Hi. Thought I would add to this topic. On my daily trip to work , a 13 mile trip each way the local council decided to reduce the main road speed limit from 70 mph down to a limit of 50mph , so my maximum limits now consist of 30,40 and 50 max. Sticking to the limits on the way to work the car achieves between 50 and 60 in the morning due to it being colder. However on the way home it achieves mid to high 70's , infact 77mpg this past Friday. Considering this time of year I think that is bloody amazing and just goes to show what the car can do and with the speed restrictions in place you don't feel like you are annoying other motorists in the process. Incidentally my highest achieved mph was 88mpg and this was travelling on country roads.
I moved to the chr from a 3rd gen Prius and quite frankly these figures could never be obtained in that car.
Excel 2018 model: 53 mpg in winter. 60+ mpg in summer. Not many hills where I live.
