Anyone had a rear seat passenger complain of feeling sick when travelling in the rear seat ?

My 74 year old mother who has never suffered from car sickness felt very ill after a 45 minute trip. I can only put it down to the restricted view as she is 4ft 11. Perhaps a booster cushion may help.

Did a 1hr 30min journey (there - and back the next day) with 2 passengers in the back and had no complaints.

a cushion/booster seat may help as you can focus on something in distance which is what you should do to stop sea sickness (focus on the horizon),
works for me

2,5 hour trip during day and another 2,5 at night. One older person and one 2-year old baby int the back. No complaints. Maybe it was a random symptom with your mother, maybe not. The rear windows are actually horrible for road-trips. I wouldn't want to be a rear passenger in our car.

My only ever rear passenger said they loved the extra view out the front over other cars they have been in. Said it really helped with their normal motion sickness.

400 mile round trip in 24hrs with son, 77 yr old mother (also 4'11") and two dogs all in the back...no one was sick

So think it just your Mum, was she actually sick or just complain of it? Ask as some pensioners love to have a moan!

A week ago 4 hours trip with 2 passengers in the back. Asked them at the end of the trip how it was and they said it was all good. 2 days ago had a 7 hours trip. Also 2 in the back. Forgot to ask myself, but didn't have any complaints.

My kids love long journeys in the back, probably because they can see them tablets with out any sun glare.
Have had adults in the back and no complaints and found it quite relaxing. One even had a good 1hrs kip!

In my opinion most reviewers have over elaborated on this feature, most saying kids won't like it and it's claustrophobic, where as in reality it is quite nice in back, and also quite roomy too.

I'm currently sitting in the back of mine. I find 2 hrs is the most I can cope with, it is comfortable but I much prefer cars with large rear windows, we bought this as a primarily 2 person car. I didn't have an issue in the back of the Auris Tourer.
I'm sure the smoothness of the driver is a factor and the type of roads, rural bendy versus motorway.
P.s. Just seen an all black C-HR in Bridgend, South Wales, heading home to Manchester.
Cheers Mark

I had the same problem with my 2018 C-HR. One of my daughters was struggling a lot, everything over 20km for her was a problem. And that without watching any screens. Even on the front seat she could hardly handle a long'ish drive.
It all changed in Jan 2020 when I bought the Orange one. Stiffer suspension is the reason I believe solved the problem.
We did the same round trip early Dec 2019 and late January 2020, with 2 different cars and out of the blue she was fine. And she never complained since then! Granted, of she stays with phone in front of her she gets sick even for a 5km drive, but she learned that piece and she stays away from the phone.

So your cousin may have an not easy to solve problem.

Got this car in short term lease after 5 years of driving a Toyota Auris hybrid Touring sports. Been driving it for a week now. I cant drive this car to work (30kms) without throwing up. After 1 km I start feeling sick. This car seems to float just above the road. This weekend my wife was in the passenger seat, she also got sick after a few Km's. ( I hadn't told her yet I felt motion sick earlier that week). After having the experience i started googling and stumbled on this post. Looks like this car just isn't my cup of tea.

Only had 1 passenger in the back so far, they didn't complain about sickness but lack of visibility & legroom - I did say they could get out & walk then they went silent.

Is it brand new?

Tyre pressures checked?
