Do you make a point of having your bonnet open often to admire the engine?

well i do have a look once a week to check levels, and keep it clean ,you ?
im actually pleased with how clean it stays under the bonnet all that rubber anti drag trim does help.

I was surprised to see it did not have a cover too. Looks a bit messy.
But to buy one.. to have one.. no.

Without cover its much easier to check and clean it all.
Most dirt still comes from below so a cover will only hide it.

Understand your opinion completely. A cover over it will have a much better presentation.
Only i like to see and clean everything and with a cover its somewhere hidden below..

Sorry but to me it's just a little too anal

On both my Jag and Audi I've removed them, will refit if ever I sell either

And why do you have to dip it, won't it fit without dipping? :?:

Or another issue from the nether regions?

This kind of follows on from my thoughts when I first Got my hybrid on May 12th ( just completed my first motorway run to go over 60mpg). I feel it is just cost cutting where they feel they can get away with it. Moving from an excel Auris to Dynamic C-HR, I noticed no engine cover, only one 12V outlet, no grab handles over the rear doors and no drop down armrest with cup holders in the rear seats. The Auris also had a metal plate to protect the bumper below the tailgate but I don't remember if was standard.
Cheers Mark.

Don't know why it's hard to understand, removed them for service/oil change and just not put them back, so actually less work for me

Esp on the Audi diesel it got quite dirty in normal driving, so without allows me to clean the engine bay (anal alert!) without having to constantly remove and refit :D Since the clips are prone to breakage (according to the their respective forums) I think it;s a better solution for me. :D

That's the 2.0l engine I think. That's why it looks different than hybrids.
