Good evening all,

This might be a silly question but i will ask anyway. When switching the engine ON to warm the car up, How far can you go away from the car before the engine switches off? I noticed that the engine was still running after i left it for a minute to get something from inside the house, that's about at least 5 metres or more. Second question; if you leave the engine on and someone jumped in the car and drove the c-hr without the smart key in the car, will the engine stop eventually after a certain distance? I never really experimented on this. If you have experienced these stuff, could you please share?

Thank you!

You can walk away as far as you can.
The car will keep running even if the key is not detected anymore. This is done for safety while driving. It would be dangerous to shut the car down.

So yes they can drive off with it.
As soon as you turn the car off, you can't start it again.

Oh dear. If someone jumped in my car with my kid in it, i will not forgive myself. So how come i can't lock the car from outside when the engine is running? Is that a safety feature too?

You seriously leave your child in the car unattended with the engine running...sorry that's just wrong and not something a responsible parent would ever do

Hang on. Why all of a sudden my post becomes a parenting issue? That was just an example mate! I would never leave a child unattended and I didn't say I left a child unattended. Answer the technical question if you know the answer, otherwise stop attacking me with parental issue or don't post at all. The question was about the c-hr, not parental responsibility. You're on a wrong forum!

Me and my wife carry a key. Once i forgot mine and drove with wife's key. She departed and i continued driving. It displayed message on small display about missing key and that's all.
Also car can not be locked if wife's bag with the key in it is in the car. Happened once at gas station, while wife went in the shop and left her bag and i filled up, wanted to go inside and pay and tried locking because her stuff was left on the seat.

My last 3 cars have been Key-less and once started the key can be somewhere else and the car will still drive, you will however get a warning to telling you the Key isn't detected. And as stated one the engine stops you cant restart.

My better half has a none key-less car and i find myself standing next to it waiting for it to open, pulling on the handle and cursing
