I am due to pick up my manual Excel model in just over a week. This will be my first car with an electronic parking brake and after reading the on line owners manual detailing its operation I am totally confused, it just makes it sound really complicated. Called me old fashioned but i am so used to the security of having a manual hand brake when you are stopped at a junction on a hill. Hopefully after driving it a few times my fears will disappear. I am worried sick though about leaving a tight parallel parking space on an incline and rolling back. Did anyone else have concerns about this when first driving the car ? Does everyone set the Brake Hold function whenever they start the car ?This is aimed at those with a manual gearbox as obviously its different with a CVT.

Brake hold is also useful for CVT as it prevents creep when you want to be stationary and you can take your foot off the brake at the lights and prevent blinding the driver behind.

I picked mine up last Thursday. Never had an electronic handbrake.
All i can say is it is so simple.
I've set mine to auto.
Stick in gear with clutch down and a little touch of the throttle and the hand brake turns off.
When stopping. Keep foot on brake and turn off car and handbrake turns on.
As for the brake hold function. Just press it when come to a stop on a hill then touch throttle and it turns off.
Excellent and easy bit of kit.

This is one gadget I thought I wouldn't use much, but with CVVT it is fantastic in traffic, turn it on, come to a halt with the brake, take foot off brake car holds you automatically until you put your foot on the accelerator, brake and repeat. Also good for up hills.

Yep it is one massive improvement over my Citroen automatic and I love it.
