I've been looking at purchasing a hybrid C-HR & following with interest this forum. I'll be buying it (not a company car) so bik is of no interest ! - my 2 main areas of concern are that the forum is "full" of complaints about build quality (windows etc) which leads to me to worry about longevity & the "gearbox" which when I (very briefly) drove one seemed to be pulling max revs - could be me
Any comments appreciated !

Feel your pain. I have brought one being delivered in Jan.
It took quite some soul searching to decide on the Car.
Having had 2 test drives both a couple of hours each I made my mind up that although a compromise the economy factor and the safety systems were worth the compromise.
It's the 1st Car I've brought in 20year as I've had company Car. I really liked being in the car, it's a nice place to be. Yes the engine revs due to the CVT gearbox and can understand why it worries some. The issues on here shouldn't be taken out of context and are typical Forum fodder, some good some bad plus the odd troll. All forum for all cars & motorcycle are much the same. If you haven't done so already take a lenghty test drives and make up your own mind. The 5 year warranty and Toyota continually high rankings in Car reliablity score should put your mind at ease.

Do you get 5 years warranty in UK? We get 6 years in Greece and 10 for the battery. WTF? Isn't it standard worldwide?
In the Netherlands 3 years and 5 years on the hybride component.
You can prolong it to 5 years and the hybride component to 8 years for an extra cost.

The build quality is really good on the C-HR. I swapped my GT86 for a new hybrid C-HR in September and don't regret it one bit.
Its not a car for "boy racers" but its a brilliant car for many different reasons - driving experience, comfort, practicality, cabin quality etc.
Your best bet is to test drive one.
The guarantee in the UK is 5 years for the car and 11 years for the battery.

I love my chr, build quality is very good imo. There have been some complaints but that's what you tend to get on forums. If you take it out for another test drive put it in sports mode. the drive is a bit of a learning curve to get the best mpg out of it.

I'm very happy with my C-HR. No complaints about build quality and I love all the safety features. I was previously driving a 2litre Diesel and it is a very different drive. The economy is great and I feel very virtuous driving on ev pass the local school and through the town. Sport mode is great fun and changes the car totally. I find it a very practical and versatile car and have no regrets. Also hybrids are the way forward.

Regarding the gearbox since you decided to buy it it would be worth it if you do some reading to understand that gearbox is at the heart of the hybrid system. This is not just a simple CVT that pulls max revs from the engine. Max revs are limited in this car since engine components are based around fuel efficiency (i think around 5000 rpms max) but the motor generators spin at around 10,000 rpms. I just learned recently that the car is always in top gear and would be useless to drive without the battery! If you do some reading I am sure you will appreciate the technology around the gearbox and the car itself.

It only revs if you are too heavy with the right foot. If you want to be Jeremy Clarkson and burn the rubber dont buy one. if you want a quiet, comfortable, effecient, green limmo then buy one and lighten the right foot!!!!

+1..
Dont expect an boyracer car. You maybe have to learn to drive with a hybrid. If so you will get relative high MPG with it.
Afterall it will be a relaxed and smooth drive with great interior, safety options and awesome looks.

Well of course the choice is yours....concerning the windows in back...yes they are small but I don't think they are an issue unless your driving from the back seat. The side mirrors have BSM on them and they work just fine. As for the my C-HR (hybrid) I don't have any problems with the gear box ( automatic) My whole purpose of purchasing the chr was to go green. Save gas and monies. I can say since I purchased the vehicle I have saved well over 1000.00 bucks. June-Jan.

Our Hybrid limited edition was a replacement for a fully loaded GT86 in a round about sort of way.

It replaced our practical Panda Cross & my Abarth 595 Competizione replaced the GT86.

The C-HR has been excellent over 6k miles. The 86 was great when you were in the mood but tedious on the daily trudge.
