It normally only does it when there is no reception so no fix as far as I now apart from leaving it on FM

There is a secret signal test setting but it would be use at your own risk because it talks to the ecu a reads faults can really screw your system if you forget what you had to begin with. I will post later if you want it

Thanks ans Not worth the risk I'll reset her to defaults then if that doesn't clear the problem, back to dealer

Uncheck the option ´alternative frequency´ in the DAB radio settings. Then it will not switch to FM anymore.

My DAB quite often tells me it has no signal when I'm only a few miles from home. Even in town it will tell me it can't find a signal and makes weird crackling sounds !!! It is a signal fault or a satellite fault or the car ??? Doing my head in !!

I wonder if this problem is in any way connected to the cracked windscreen issue which is allegedly caused by the dab aerial in the windscreen?
No

I suspect that this radio design has poor RF sensitivity or poor gain from aerial design (I believe the DAB aerial is embedded in windscreen but would appreciate confirmation if this is the case or does it use the "sharkfin" along with FM on roof?) , I tested with another C-HR and results were the same. In my case I found that noise generated from my Nextbase Dashcam mounted below and left of mirror (RHD model) also caused more dropouts. Its hardwired using manufacturers kit which I disconnected, which confirmed RFI interference was causing more dropouts so I have so far earthed the case of the 12v to 5v power dropper and have added ferrite cores at either end but no noticeable improvement. My next step is to reroute the supply from left hand pillar upto roofline and across to mirror by mounting it lower down so I can route cable via base of windscreen but not done so far as weather rather inclement. In meantime I have switched off alternative frequency so now works ok until reach limit of DAB multiplex, downside of this is when reception signal weak the volume drops considerably until signal recovers. I have had the radio updated to the latest software spec which did not make any difference at all.

Setting a delay on the buffer is not going to resolve this issue, if the received signal level falls all it will do is delay this level for the time delay set on buffer so there will be still be a reduction in volume for period of poor reception so no improvement what so ever.

Have same here with certain commercial radiostations. Sometimes it falls away for few seconds..
The public radiostations dont have this issue so think it depends on the signal strength or something.

Unchecked the box ´alternative frequency´ also so it dont switch to FM anymore when DAB signal is not strong enough.

On mine it works fine. Before the first inspection which I had in April, when I going near the border the DAB quality was poor, a normal situation, and the signal would just drop. Now I noticed it goes to FM, but only when i'm near the border with Germany. The rest of Belgium the signal is ok.
