Cracked windscreen inside

I had an inch crack in mine, right hand corner behind sun visor the day I picked it up, not sure if they changed it under warranty as I noticed it immediately and they ordered a replacement in (took 3 days to get). The screen replacement took an hour to do, but then the bonding has to set and then all the radar, light detectors rain sensors have to be re-calibrated another 2 hours or so.
Hope its not a reoccurring fault

man i wish id spent more time checking it over. . I will try to enjoy this car for a few years but will never recommend toyota after what I heard them saying on dash cam about me lol

sorry to hear about your troubles. i did laugh at the dash cam comment I've got one of those ring video doorbells that record upon movement not only if you ring the doorbell. picked up some investing conversations - although not about me..yet.

it is huge too, cant believe they missed it. So after telling them im allergic to all chemicals I saw them spraying scented prewash all over it and made me ill for the first week. Of course that make's me a pri**.

I think Im about to make the first for sale thread ha ha

well, best laid plans and all that. Due to pick the vehicle up this morning and just getting ready to leave when I get a call saying that I can't have it because, wait for it....................the Windscreen had cracked as they were getting it out of the compound. After a few seconds of thinking along the lines of FFS, I think to myself " well maybe that's not too bad, get a new one fitted and get the car tomorrow" if only life were that simple, Toyota are insisting that this is treated as a warranty claim and needs to be investigated, meaning we can't even get one of the national companies to replace it. So at the moment I do not have a clue when I will get it...

So with mine that's 3 windscreens that we know of so far

Make that 4, (reported on here anyway). We picked our Dynamic Hybrid up last Tuesday, found 3 inch crack in upper RH corner, same as others, only cracked on inside. The car is back at the dealer awaiting a new screen from Toyota, (due on Saturday). We're a bit concerned to be told a "specialist" will do the replacement. It's obvious now Toyota have got an issue as there must be others out there who haven't found this Forum.

We are now thinking of having our money back, unless Toyota can guarantee the replacement will solve the problem. A shame because in the 4 hours we used it on Tuesday we thought it was great and there's nothing out there we would want.

Make that 5 reported now!

Went to daughters swimming lesson this morning and when I came back it was cracked-was definitely not there when I left the car. So this happened when the car was stationary.

Same as others-a 3 inch crack on the inside that runs down from top and then right out of the side in a right angle shape. Driver's side behind the sun visor.

seems like a definite fault now.

Not called the dealership yet...

This is proving to be a stress crack with an, as yet, unrevealed (or undiscovered) root cause. I am calling my Toyota Case Report person in the morning to report this evidence on this Forum. I thought we were the only unlucky ones until I found this Forum tonight.

I also would like a picture of the crack.
And is it only in cars with the wheel on the right side? Did any one non UK have this windshield crack?

CHR Dynamic, Hybrid, RH drive.

See picture. The crack, ONLY on the inner laminate. is located in the upper RH side of the screen extending down from the top. I first saw mine the morning after we took delivery. It was two inches long. The car was transported back to the dealer 3 days later and had grown to 4 1/2 " long. The car wasn't moved in that time.

Based on reports on this forum (5 now), this must be a serious issue. I have been promised a replacement screen by early next week but like you guys i've lost confidence in the quality of the car and am worried about the integrity of the method of replacement as they say it will be done by a 'specialist' whoever that means.

We did over 100 miles the first afternoon we had it and like a lot of other people on this Forum thought the car was fantastic, brilliant handling, 50 - 70 mpg. Couldn't have been happier with a new car, until!

(btw, so far I think this is an excellent Forum, for good or bad).

First time i went on the motorway i heard a pop. I think that's when the first crack may have started. But it was behind the visor so couldn't see it. Then overnight it extended from edge to edge.

Before even seeing it they asked where it was over the phone and acted like he wasn't surprised. In person he said he is dealing with other cases.

My C-HR is left site drive and no cracks so far (got the car 2 months now), hope it stays that way. I hope Toyota will pay attention to this. So far I'm very satisfied with de quality of the C-HR.....no problems what so ever (knock on wood...).
