I've had a fun day. My 3 month old CHR cut out on the way to work this morning, with a reduced engine power message. Luckily it was about 5 minutes after getting off the motorway. I pulled over and turned the car off, and when I restarted I was greeted with a whole bunch of warning lights, and a sequence of error messages:

Check Engine
EPB malfunction
Pre-Collision Warning System Malfunction

It also knocked out the hold function, and cruise control. Weirdly though, it drove fine.

I got it to work, attended a meeting, and then rang my dealer to leave a number of messages. No one called me back, so I called again to be told that I have Toyota Assistance, and had I called them! I don't remember reading anything about assistance, I just assumed it was included - I must admit I didn't think about calling them out.

Anyway, The AA turned up, checked the fault codes, and it showed a too high pressure reading on the fuel rail for bank 1. He cleared the fault codes, did a road test, and everything is fine now.

I'm just shocked that what appears to be an anomalous error caused such a knock on with other systems.

At least I already feel Christmassy...

Edit: I should have said, that if anyone else gets this, you're safe to drive. It won't damage the engine, just knocks out a bunch of systems.

That's the trouble with modern cars, one small sensor glitch and you get a cascade of others problems that had nothing to do with the original problem

That's pretty much what the guy from the AA said. "Cars these days are too clever for their own good" if memory serves :)

My ecu had fused itself on constantly and was draining my battery. Id urge everyone with this car to monitor the 12v battery occasionally so you dont get left stranded. There was no clues it was doing it for the first 2 months.
