I try not to worry that much. Not seen the CHR as that desirable by thieves. Had a golf R previously, now that was the car of choice, as could give even police pursuit cars a good run for their money

At present it seems most thefts are high end to order and the gangs doing it will find a way regardless, or lower value cars for spare.

End of the day if they want it they will get it. Sh1t happens, take basic precautions and make sure you have insurance. If you live in a bad area look at a Ghost or similar. No way is car going anywhere under its own power unless the right sequence of buttons and switches is hit as works through the canbus

Doesn't make it right but worrying won’t change anything

I can recommend this company if you wish to upgrade the security on your C-HR, they have actually taken the time to study Toyota / Lexus hybrid vehicles to develop security systems that do work.

Contact Us | All Enquiries | MotorGuard (motorguards.co.uk)

Toyota / Lexus hybrids are difficult to retrofit aftermarket security systems to, you either get lots of faults ( just look on other Toyota / Lexus forums for multiple threads to prove that ) & / or the aftermarket security wont stop the CAN invader theft method.

Before anyone asks - I'm not going to divulge what's been fitted, but if you want to secure your C-HR speak to the company above as there are multiple options depending on exactly what you want.

Also - Autowatch have got hold of a CAN invader theft device to study it - again make sure if you pick the Ghost option that your chosen fitter know what there doing with a Toyota / Lexus hybrid.

Think I'll stick with my steering lock, if it still goes walkabout hopefully insurance will sort it out, when do you stop spending to stop them with nothing taking your pride and joy....ars*"""

The idea is to make your vehicle less desirable for theft so they move on to an easier target.

We have both done that by different methods.
