The automatic parking brake is brilliant. Just pull shove the"gear" stick to P and switch off and it applies full parking brake for you.
BUT - beware. Today I got it wrong and switched off before putting into P, and it did NOT apply the parking brake ( just engine braking - equivalent to leaving it in gear).

That seems strange. The Citroen DS4 Auto I have, it's electronic brake is applied automatically if you turn the engine off.
You literally have no choice it is automatically applied. That seems the safest approach to it to me?

Are there any options for its behaviour in the computer settings?

Actually it's good the brake is not applied automatically without knowing. In winter it could freeze and your rear wheels wouldn't be turning while driving. Even manual says that.
