Do you mean when you are using the break hold function?

When it is on hold the brake lights are on.

Many thanks. Problem sorted. Page 257 was helpful too. All I had to do was hold the parking brake switch UP for a few seconds to undo what I'd done myself (which was holding it down for too long!).
Will be referring to online manual also if further problems occur.
BUT still loving the car.

Yes there is a lot to be learnt from the manuals but at 800 odd pages its a lot to take in in one go.
