Adjusting sensitivity of the automatic full beam?

12766 Views 19 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  holyhead
After driving a lot at night I've found that the the full beam will not automatically dim until the oncoming trafic is annoyed and flashes.

Do you guys know if I or the dealer can adjust sensitivity somewhere? I haven't found any other settings except the light settings on the touch screen and there the sensitivity is set to max.

This system is pretty much a waste if I have to revert to manual all the time. My old cars never had this issue but the where premium cars.

I have the same issue...good to hear I am not the only one.

I find that not only are the lights late in Auto dipping, but when you drive into street lit villages the lights remain on full beam

My car has had this fault since new ......and is back at the dealers again tomorrow ....

If I find out what the fix is, I will post it on the Forum
must be a fault as you say as they should dip under street light conditions ,hope you get it sorted
Why do you use this function? The standard LED's on my car are so extremely bright, i don't need the high beam.
If the function is available then you expect that it works.
And if you drive in the middle of nowhere without any streetlight then Highbeam is useful.
Mine definitely auto-dims under streetlights and I've not had any oncoming cars flash.
Thanks everyone for your support ....sadly my CHR is now at the dealership again thats over 10% of the time I have owned it, it is at the dealers waiting for a fix.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for providing the fix to the parking sensor issue, but sadly it seems the Auto dip headlight fault is beyond the capability of my dealer's engineer to fix. I could not believe they even insulted my intelligence by offering me there Demo so I know how Auto beam should work....This only rubs salt into the wound that there Auto Dip works and mine does not....???????????? That is after the engineer told me it worked fine without even looking at the car.

After being insulted by the engineer Toyota UK are now involved and all parties know that if its not fixed by 1600 then with a very heavy heart I will be leaving my CHR at the garage and walking away with a full refund as the car is not for for purpose....

Like everyone on here I Love my CHR, but enough is enough.....If you have a dealer who do not have the knowledge to repair and when you visit them you are insulted then its time to walk. I do so hope that its not the case an Toyota UK can step in and resolve but would you go through the pain and stress of what I have endured..

Shouldn't you get a replacement while your car is being fixed?
Yes to give them credit I do have a loan car...But hardly to standard of my CHR.

Currently I have a basic Aygo and before a Yaris...neither were Auto !!!!

And was the problem with the full beam solved by 16.00 (29 march) or do you have rejected your Car as you mentioned.
Such a same you got an obvious rogue one.

Yes I rejected my CHR..
Sorry to hear that Toyota seems not really care about their costumers.
will you get another or try something different
I am waiting for the dealer to give me the refund .... I really hope the dealer shows tomorrow that they do support the level of customer Service Toyota is known for and do not drag this stressful event any longer and honour the Consumer law.

Such a pity as the CHR is great car - if only mine worked fault free long enough to enjoy it... As to what is replacing it, it will have to be what is available ASAP but I doubt a Toyota due to being insulted at the dealership... it now leaves me without a car due to no fault of my own, just having bad luck and weeks of sleepless nights...

It's more like a dealer who doesn't care and not Toyota

Yes, I agree Toyota is involved, but as I understand, it's the dealer who insulted and delayed the fix, isn't it?
