Just noticed Autumn 2018 map update 6.12.0H is now available in the e-store

I seem to be having a problem with map update 6.12.0H. I can download it ok and extract it to a USB ok. When I try to update the car nothing happens. With past updates there were some files in the root directory of the USB and a nav folder, with the current update there is a 6.12.0H folder in the root directory of the USB and I think that this is the problem. I have looked at the downloaded zip file and within it is the 6.12.0H folder. In past updates this has contained some files and the nav folder. I have downloaded this update several times with Internet Explorer and also Chrome but the result is the same. Can anyone help please?
Once the download is complete, unzip the downloaded update to the USB stick. Do not simply copy the zip file over, as this will not allow the update to be installed.

this is all that should be on the USB stick noting else not the 6.12.0H folder itself just the contents

I have done this, but the 6.12.0.H folder gets copied over as well. As I said in my earlier post if I look into the zipped 6.12.0H folder there is a 6.12.0H update folder in there. Which I believe is the problem. When I look back at all my other zipped folder map updates this update folder does not exist.

If you unzip the zipped 6.12.0H file you got probably a folder with the
name 6.12.0H.
If you open that folder you see a folder with the same name
6.12.0H.
If you open that folder then you got the files and folder Nav mentioned in post 316.
Those files and folder you copy to the empty USB stick from at least
10 GB

What I do is to create a folder on my desktop and the when I unzip the download I set that as the destination folder, then double click on the folder 6.12.0which opens to show the contents as in my previous post. Then I copy and paste those files onto my USB. Hope that helps

Got the update completed safely today.

Thanks to all on here who gave such helpful advice...there is a lot to learn when owning a C-HR!

Well just copy the contents of the inner folder. That's what needs to be on tbe stick.

I hope I am wrong but the installer in the software will probably look for all the files it has to install and if one is missing it may throw up a error, and stop at that point.
It has happened to me in other applications, but I hope you manage it OK!

By the way I presume those of you who have downloaded the update did actually have to pay for it? I don't want to go through the purchasing procedure to find , for some reason, we get free updates with newish cars or something like that!
Your right... the update failed miserably, but right at the start. Lesson learnt.... don't delete any map files. Time to get a bigger USB stick ;)

Hi all, I'm trying to update the maps on my CHR to the latest Autumn 2018 version and have downloaded everything as described.

The update launches correctly in the car but the activation code provide shows as Invalid. I've confirmed it's correct and even C&P'd it into the activation file but still shows as Invalid. Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve?

Regards,

Jonathan

Can someone help me? I am pretty useless with IT things so am struggling. I have downloaded and unzipped the update on to a USB formatted FAT32, I have plugged it into the usb socket in my chr hybrid , but nothing appears on the screen. What do I need access to download to car?

Jsstevo, could you perhaps not have copied all the characters exactly as given? Ie not used capitals or small case letters as required?
Oh I just noticed you have tried copying and pasting, so that rules that out then.

#42 ·
Yeh, it's all caps and even confirmed zero's are zero's not the letter between N and P!

I've messaged Toyota and will see what they come back with.

Anyone know if it validates the code over the internet? I get it attached to the phone, and 2 out of 5 bars of 4g signal. Might try it with a stronger signal just in case.

#47 ·
Code is not validated from the internet.
I always copy the code into "Activation Code.xml" found to the root of the USB. It's obvious where to paste it when you open it with notepad.
So the process goes straight and doesn't ask to input manually the code.
I never had to write it or print it. No mistakes are possible.

I have done a screen shot of what i have downloaded, to show on reply to make sure it is correct but it will not let me paste to my post, also pasted it to a word document but it will not allow me to add this as an attachment, how do i show the screen print in a post?

Please can you copy and paste the contents of the activation file, just in case mine has become corrupt.

Cheers

There you are:

<?xml version= "1.0" ?><ACTIVATIONCODES></ACTIVATIONCODES>

Just replace 1111-2222-3333-4444 with your code. Open notepad, paste the above with your code and save as activationCode.xml.
Then replace yours to the root of your USB stick.
